Michael Jerrett,
President
Michael a Seattle native that
grew up in the Northgate area of Seattle, and has been
a Queen Anne resident for thirteen years. This came
as a result of meeting and marrying his wife who has
been a Queen Anne resident her entire life. Michael
and his wife currently reside in the Uptown neighborhood
and have two children that attend St. Anne’s school;
a girl who is in first grade, and a boy who is in third
grade. This past March Michael and his wife welcomed
their third child into the world.
After nearly ten years as a residential/commercial
painter and the birth of their first child Michael decided
that he wanted to forge a new career path. This desire
resulted the beginning of his collegiate career which
began at North Seattle Community College in 1998. He
achieved an Associates degree in Computer Network Technology,
and then transferred to the University of Washington
and earned a Liberal Arts degree with a concentration
in Global Studies with a minor in Human Rights. During
his undergraduate studies Michael Became increasingly
interested in politics and social issues, and this interest
grew more when he served as a Washington State Senate
intern for Bill Finkbeiner. Upon completing his undergraduate
studies Michael pursued an MA in Public Policy Studies
from the University of Washington, which was achieved
in the spring of 2005. His areas of interest are Urban
Development and Transportation issues.
In addition to performing the
presidential duties of Uptown Alliance, Michael is also
the Chair of the Friends of Two-Way-Mercer that advocates
restructuring Mercer Street into a two way boulevard.
In his spare time Michael coaches his children’s
baseball and soccer teams and is a co-chair for the
fund raising auction for their school. Michael is currently
conducting a job search in the Public Affairs field.
